Human Factors and Ergonomics

Requirements

 

Master's and Doctoral students are required to fulfill core requirements:

  • Human Factors Foundations
  • Cognitive Human Factors
  • Physical Human Factors
  • Statistics
  • Experimental Design
  • Research Ethics Training

 

Master of Science Plan A requires 20 course credits selected from the Human Factors and Ergonomics Course List, and 10 thesis credits.  A thesis is required.

Master of Science Plan C requires 30 course credits selected from the Human Factors and Ergonomics Course List.

Doctor of Philosophy requires 36 course credits selected from the Human Factors and Ergonomics Course List, and 24 dissertation credits.  A dissertation is required.

Students can take up to 6 course credits from any graduate level course offered at the University (5XXX and above), so long as it relates to your dissertation research and your advisor approves of the selection. The course(s) do not need to be part of the official HFE curriculum, and do not require formal DGS approval. The balance of credits may come from any category on the course list.
